PORT ANGELES – A Forks woman will spend more than 26 years in prison for the killing of a toddler in her care.

46-year-old Ramona Ward was sentenced yesterday in Clallam County Superior Court.

The 26 ½ years is the maximum sentence in the case, after Ward plead guilty to homicide by abuse in the death of 2 1/2-year-old Issac Ward in 2016

Ramona Ward’s daughter Michelle Ward, was set to go on trail this month. But she plead guilty to second-degree criminal mistreatment and a drug charge, lesser charges in the case in exchange for her testimony against her mother.

Ramona Ward would care for Issac, Michelle Ward, would work. Michelle Ward was Issac’s custodial guardian.
Isaac Ward died November 11, 2016, two days after he was found unconscious. Medical staff identified injuries consistent with a pattern of abuse and neglect
