PORT ANGELES – Shawn Dawson of Port Angeles was sentenced last week to 26 months prison after pleading guilty to third degree child rape and communication with a minor for immoral purposes.

Court documents say 37-year-old Dawson hired a 14–year–old boy to do yardwork, then over a period of a year let the boy drive his car, took him to movies and let him ‘hang out’ in Dawson’s hot tub. Dawson furnished the boy and a friend with marijuana and alcohol, and after using the hot tub, had sexual intercourse with the boy.

The sheriff’s office was contacted after the victim talked about the incident with his family. A court statement says he has been having flashbacks of the incident, along with behavioral changes, unusual anger, and has been cutting himself.

The charge of communication with a minor stems from a separate

investigation that showed Dawson had been communicating with two

10-year-old boys over “Xbox Live” pretending to be a 13–year–old girl. One of the boy’s mothers became suspicious when she heard the boy talking on a cell phone to someone whose voice sounded similar to Minnie Mouse.
