CLALLAM COUNTY – As the Fourth of July and fireworks season approaches, Clallam County Commissioners are keeping the conversation going on whether or not to ban fireworks countywide as early as next year.

Commissioner Bill Peach has been getting an earful on the subject from his District 3 constituents, and what he’s hearing doesn’t necessarily match up with what’s being said in the rest of the county.

Peach was also hearing that working folks would like to have a chance to be heard at a public meeting, and so he proposed holding an evening event.

As a result, another hearing has been announced for Tuesday July 17 at 6:00 pm. Interested persons must either submit their written comments before the hearing is commenced or present oral comments in person that evening.

Peach says that if a ban becomes reality, it wouldn’t necessarily have to be countywide.

The hearing will be in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 East 4th Street, Room 160, and that’s also where you can submit your comments by mail.
