Pysht — A body washed up on a Clallam County beach.

The sheriff’s office says the body of an identified male was discovered Tuesday morning near mile post 35 on Highway 112.

Hikers discovered the body about mid day Tuesday and called 911. They also contacted a Border Patrol agent who had been driving along the highway.

The agent hiked to the body, which was located about one half mile east of mile post 35 on Highway 112, and awaited the arrival of Clallam County deputies.

Investigators believe the body floated to the location by way of ocean currents.

Members from Clallam County Search and Rescue responded to the scene and recovered the body which was located about a half mile from the highway. The identity of the deceased male is currently unknown.

The Clallam County coroner has requested an autopsy in order to determine cause of death.

Clallam County detectives are currently reviewing reports of missing persons in the surrounding areas and Canada in an attempt to determine the identity of the deceased.
