PORT ANGELES– A recent increase in burglaries in Clallam County has prompted Sheriff Bill Benedict to put together another Task Force similar to what’s worked in the past.

Benedict says he believes the spike is associated with opiate addiction. He added that most of the home invasions have occurred in the daytime and most of the car prowls have been at night, but he’s encouraged by a recent bust just east of Port Angeles.

The Sheriff pointed out that the best deterrent to these crimes is still vigilance on the part of the public.
