PORT ANGELES  – Gov. Inslee has a five-year plan to modernize and transform the state’s mental health care systems by shifting away from large institutions to smaller, community-based facilities. That just translated into the State Dept. of Commerce releasing $39 million in grants to 18 mental health care providers across Washington, and one of those providers is right here in Port Angeles.

Clallam County Juvenile and Family Health Services received over a million dollars of those funds, and according to Director Jody Jacobsen, it’s going to be used for a major upgrade of their facility at 1812 W. 18TH Street.

Jacobsen says part of the money will also be used to add 3 new beds at their juvenile detention site for secure withdrawal management.
