PORT ANGELES – A Port Angeles man shot up his neighbor’s house southeast of Port Angeles.

The shooting happened near Mount Pleasant Road and Mountain Home roads east of Port Angeles at about 12:30 Tuesday.

40 year-old Derek Darling was arrested for shooting up his neighbor’s house, which is under construction, in a dispute about where the neighbor’s house was located.

The neighbor called 911 from inside the house and dispatchers could hear windows shattering. Clallam County sheriff Bill Benedict says when deputies and officers arrived, Darling was seen holding a rifle, which he reportedly aimed at them before walking back to his house and coming out unarmed.

Darling admitted to shooting at the neighbor’s house 4 or 5 times and wanting to kill the neighbor for building there.

He was booked on assault charges and resisting arrest.
