CLALLAM COUNTY – A car stopped for speeding in a school zone last week has led to the arrest of a Port Angeles man, recovery of a stolen vehicle, and the recovery of property stolen from Olympic National Park.

The ongoing investigation began when 34-year-old Brandon Hall was stopped for speeding near Roosevelt Elementary School on Monroe Road on Friday of last week. The deputy involved soon discovered that Hall’s license was suspended, and the brand new GMC Yukon he was driving had been reported stolen from the Ruddell Auto dealership on August 30. A spokesman from Ruddell told KONP that the SUV had been jimmied open and the key stolen at about 2:30 in the morning. It has since been returned to the dealership with minor cosmetic damage.

A search warrant was served on the vehicle and deputies discovered items believed to have been stolen from multiple crime scenes, including a break-in of the entrance station on Sol Duc Hot Springs Road on Sunday morning, September 2. The Sheriff’s Office and Park Rangers are working together on the case. So-called burglary tools were also found in the car.

Hall was booked into the Clallam County Corrections Facility for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, driving while license suspended, driving without an interlock device, and several moving violations.

Three passengers that were in the vehicle at the time of his arrest, and were at first allowed to leave the scene, are now being interviewed as “persons of interest”.
