elwha-hotel

PORT ANGELES – Port Angeles City Council and the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribal Council appear to be getting close to a final sale agreement on the proposed hotel property on East Front Street.
They’re holding a special joint meeting this Thursday morning at 10:00, and Mayor Sissi Bruch sounds confident that a deal has finally been made.

The city declared the property at 111 East Front Street surplus in 2008 and authorized its sale. Until recently, the buildings were being used by Budget Rent-A-Car, Dungeness Bus Lines and Cockadoodle Donuts.
The tribe wants to build a multi-story four-star hotel with an indoor restaurant, an outdoor restaurant, meeting spaces, and a bar. The project has been delayed while an environmental study was conducted that found some old petroleum pollution at the site.
Thursday morning’s meeting in the Council Chambers is open to the public.
