CLALLAM COUNTY – The Clallam County Board of Commissioners this morning withdrew the conditional job offer to County Administrator candidate David Fraser.

Appearing on Thursday’s Todd Ortloff Show, Commissioners Ozias and Johnson said that Fraser’s conditional offer was dependent on another round of internal vetting, which brought them to the conclusion that Fraser would not be a good fit. The decision was made without the presence of Commissioner Bill Peach, who was home sick. Although the Commissioners would not elaborate on their reasons for withdrawing their offer, Ozias said he was confident that Peach would have agreed. A majority vote is all that is needed in that decision.

Commissioners have called for a work session Monday morning to discuss what happens next. Here’s Ozias:

Commissioners were asked why they wanted to start over in their search, a process that the consultant says will take about two-and-a-half months, rather than choose one of the other original candidates.

Current Administrator Jim Jones will be retiring on October 26th. Commissioners say they’ll be speaking with Jones as to his availability to continue on in a consultant basis for the foreseeable future.
