SEQUIM – KONP has expanded its broadcast coverage in the east end of Clallam County.

KONP’s parent company, Radio Pacific, Inc., launched a new FM frequency in Sequim at 101.3 FM. It simulcasts KONP’s programming that is also heard at 101.7 FM in Port Angeles and at AM 1450.

The new signal means people can listen to KONP in the Sequim area, static free. For decades KONP’s AM signal has been hampered by increased interference from things such as fluorescent lights, computer monitors and other electrical devices.  The FM service is also not impacted by atmospheric and nighttime interference that often plagues AM. It also means more people can pick up the broadcasts inside their homes and businesses in the Sequim area.

The new FM translator marks another major expansion for Radio Pacific, Inc. In the past six months, the company launched a country music station in Port Angeles at FM 102.1, and built and launched full-power KZQM featuring classic rock hits in Sequim at 104.9 FM. The company also launched a new regional community web portal at myclallamcounty.com.
