PORT ANGELES – A man accused of helping smuggle drugs into the Clallam Bay prison has been sentenced to six years in prison for the crime.

This week, 27-year-old Arturo Ramirez was sentenced in Clallam County Superior Court.

In early September investigators learned of a plot in which inmates were trying to introduce methamphetamine into the prison. The inmates were known to be affiliated with the street gangs MS13 and the BGDs.

With cooperation from an informant in the prison, the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team learned that inmates had reached to Ramirez and another recently released inmate.

Detectives arrested Ramirez along with two other accomplices in Port Angeles. They had with them more than 60 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of nearly five thousand dollars and a prison value of more than 24 thousand dollars.
