PORT ANGELES – A day-long effort on Newsradio KONP yesterday raised more than 32-thousand dollars for the Port Angeles Food Bank.

KONP listeners and area businesses donated $32,789 in the 12-hour “food-a-thon” which is sponsored by the Port Angeles Lions Club.

Lions Club members manned phone banks and took to the airwaves asking for donations. The drive was buoyed by large donations of more than $7,000 from the employees and owners of the MV Coho, Hermann Brothers donated $4000 and dozens of others gave between $5 and $1000.

This was the 38th year for the food-a-thon, which brings in a significant part of the annual operating revenue for the food bank each year.
