PORT ANGELES – The founder of a local non-profit that helped Clallam County residents and families through end of life, has herself passed away.

Newsradio KONP has confirmed longtime Port Angeles-area resident Rose Crumb passed away peacefully Wednesday morning at 6:20 a.m. Rose would have been 93 on December 26.

Crumb was noted for creating Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County. The group of volunteer residents and nurses has assisted hundreds of families as they dealt with terminal conditions such as cancer. Just this fall, the organization celebrated its 40th anniversary.  Fittingly, she had been in the care of Volunteer Hospice staff in recent days.

Patrick Crumb, her son, shared that she passed very peacefully and had spent the last several days with her children and grandchildren.  Rose passed at home surrounded by a number of her children.

She was also active in many other social service causes locally.

Patrick said there will be a Funeral Mass after the first of the year at Queen of Angels Parish here in Port Angeles.  In true Rose fashion … she didn’t want anyone to disrupt their holiday plans.

Date and time to be announced.
