PORT ANGELES – The Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce has announced the finalists for the 2nd Annual Port Angeles Community Awards.

Local residents were once again asked to nominate their choices for best in six categories, including Young Leader, Emerging Business, Organization, Educator, Business, and Citizen of the Year for 2018.

Over 70 nominations were received this year, and the top three finalists in each category were selected by a panel of judges from the community at large. While all of the finalists will be celebrated and honored, one winner from each category will be announced at the Gala, which is scheduled for January 26, at the Vern Burton Center.

Tickets to the event are $70 per person and are now available online at: ChamberSignUps.com.

The “black tie” event will also include a plated dinner, provided by “A Taste of Port Angeles”, with entrées, appetizers, sides, and dessert provided by popular restaurants from all over town.

The three finalists in each category are as follows:

Young Leader of the Year: Victoria Jones, Bonnie Schmidt, Shenna Younger

Emerging Business of the Year:  Amma’s Umma,  Avail Fit,  Poser Yoga

Organization of the Year:  Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts,  Lincoln Park BMX, Volunteers in Medicine of the Olympics

Educator of the Year: Christine Bohman, Phil Morgan-Ellis, Claire Rausch

Business of the Year: Hermann Brothers, Lakeside Industries, Lumber Traders

Citizen of the Year: Susan Hilgren, Amy Miller, Iris Winslow
