TACOMA (AP) — Authorities say a Pierce County woman is in critical condition after her estranged husband intentionally slammed his vehicle into her car.

The 37-year-old man T-boned her car while driving more than 50 mph on Sunday.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department says the man was released from the hospital and immediately arrested on suspicion of assault and violation of a protection order.

The 34-year-old woman was granted a restraining order against the man last week, claiming he had threatened to kill her and was stalking her.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer says the woman was fleeing to her mother’s home when her car was hit.
