PORT ANGELES – A new book about the history of local news media is being unveiled at multiple events this month.

Strait Press: A History of News Media on the North Olympic Peninsula will be officially launched at a book signing and presentation tonight in Sequim at the Sequim Museum on Cedar Street from 6:30-8.

Author Bill Lindstrom and local Sequim businessman Brown Maloney will be on hand. In addition to commissioning the book, Maloney published the Sequim Gazette for 23 years and owns KONP’s parent company, Radio Pacific.

Next Thursday, January 10 at Peninsula College, the book will featured at the Stadium Generale program at 7:00 PM in the Little Theatre.

Presenting as part of a panel will be author Lindstrom, former Peninsula Daily News publishers Frank Ducceschi and John Brewer, former KONP Radio station owner Jim MacDonald and retired Peninsula College journalism instructor Robbie Mantooth. The panel will be moderated by Maloney and will be interactive with questions from students.

Books will be available at both events with proceeds going to local non-profits.

Until now, no author has attempted to write the history of the newspapers and broadcast media on the North Olympic Peninsula. This book does that. It also details history highlights of Clallam and Jefferson counties.

Launches also will be held in Port Townsend and Forks at dates to be decided.

Author Bill Lindstrom has been a Western Washington journalist for more than 55 years.
