SEATTLE (AP) — Tens of thousands of people remained without power after windstorms struck parts of Washington and Oregon over the weekend.

Around 30,000 Puget Sound Energy customers were still without power as of noon today, though workers had restored power to more than 288,000 customers since the height of the storm. Seattle City Light had about 1,000 customers without power as of this morning.

In Oregon the lights were back on for most people.

The National Weather Service reported winds included gusts of more than 60 mph at the storm’s peak Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

Alaska Airlines says all its flights were grounded between about 4:20 a.m. and 5:15 a.m. Sunday after the power outage, where its operations are based.

Airline spokeswoman Oriana Branon says the power went out around 3:30 a.m. and came back on about an hour and a half later.

27 flights were delayed and five were canceled. Branon says inconvenienced customers are being offered compensation on a case by case basis.
