PORT ANGELES – District 3 fire crews battled a blaze at a high-profile log home along Highway 101 west of Sequim on Tuesday.
Firefighters arrived at the two-story home, which is also the site of the business Northwest Log Homes, to find heavy smoke coming from the roof next to the chimney. They fought the fire from inside the building, breaking through the ceiling to expose the fire and protect the rest of the building.
The family was home at the time of the fire, but no one was injured.
The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and due to how the fireplace was constructed.
