SEQUIM – The Sequim School District plans to ask for waivers of at least some of the cancelled days during the big snow storms earlier this month.

But how many and what the future school schedule may look like is still uncertain.

Superintendent Gary Neal tells KONP he is working with other school officials and the school board.

The state office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction is allowing districts to ask for waivers of day missed while there was a gubernatorial emergency declaration.

Although days can be waived, districts still must meet an average 1,027 hours of instructional time.

Neal says he thinks Sequim’s graduation date will stay where it is.

The Port Angeles school board will take up the issue of how it makes up snow days during a discussion next week.
