PORT ANGELES – An iconic store in downtown Port Angeles is closing.

After more than two decades, Edna Peterson says she’s retiring and shutting down her “Necessities and Temptations” store on the waterfront.

Peterson says she’s selling everything in the store over the next couple of weeks, and then she’ll close the doors for good. She says a desire to spend more time with family also contributed to her decision.

But even though the store is closing, she still plans to stay active in the community. Peterson says she has plenty of fond memories of her many customers and especially her employees over the years.

Peterson has also been a strong promoter of numerous community events and causes. She served on the Port Angeles city council and has been a long-time board member of the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce and Port Angeles Business Association. She is also active in the Olympic Medical Center Foundation and has sponsored numerous individual events. She spearheaded the start of the Winter Ice Village in downtown Port Angeles last winter.
