DISCOVERY BAY – The crash landing of an antique bi-plane onto the beach along Old Gardiner Road in Jefferson County resulted in the pilot and his passenger being airlifted to Harborview Sunday afternoon.

At about 1:30, pilot Neil Morrison and passenger Eric Taylor experienced engine failure in the plane owned by Port Townsend Aero Museum and attempted an emergency landing on the beach at Discovery Bay. Taylor had to be extricated from the heavily-damaged plane, which was later recovered by the museum.
