SPOKANE (AP) — Rain continued to fall in torrents throughout the Spokane region all day Friday.

That was after thunderstorms brought drenching rains to the city Thursday evening.

The National Weather Service says parts of the city saw an inch of rain fall in just 20 minutes Thursday.

All that water produced plenty of localized flooding.

Thursday’s concert at the Fox Theater by singer Art Garfunkel was canceled because of storm water leaking into the theater.

Across the street, The Spokesman-Review newspaper’s main press sustained water damage after a pipe cracked and sent water over the machinery.

The Weather Service issued flood watches across the region on Friday, and predicted rain would become increasingly heavy through Saturday morning, causing water to rise rapidly in some areas.
