SEATAC – A man was arrested Monday morning after a loaded gun was discovered in his carry-on at SeaTac Airport, according to the TSA. It is the sixth firearm discovered at the airport this month.

The compact revolver was found during a routine security checkpoint. TSA notified the Port of Seattle Police Department who responded, interviewed the traveler and confiscated the weapon.

The man was arrested on a state charge. TSA will review the incident and levy a civil penalty against the man, which the recommended civil penalty for incidents such as this start at $2,000.

This firearm discovery was the sixth this month. In 2019, 29 firearms have been discovered at SeaTac Airport, 24 of which were loaded.

Firearms can be transported on commercial aircraft only if they are unloaded, parked in a locked, hard-sided case and placed in checked baggage.
