SEQUIM – The Sequim School District has a new interim superintendent.

Today, the school board announced Robert Clark has accepted the position, pending final background checks and a contract negotiation.

Clark has deep roots in Washington state. He grew up in the Wenatchee area where his father was a teacher, and he says he worked his first 28 years in education here in Washington, including the Quilcene School District back in the 90’s.

Clark and his wife now have a home in Port Ludlow. He’s currently the superintendent of the Milton-Freewater School District in northeast Oregon, where he will wrap things up in two weeks.

“I’m going to be up there next week for a few days, then want to touch base with Gary Neal before he gets out the door, and then I’ll probably be in Sequim full-time somewhere second week of July. It will be a good time to get my feet wet and meet some people, a little bit more casual, a little bit more informal, till we get going with school.”

Sequim Superintendent Gary Neal resigned in May, effective the end of this month. Clark’s agreement runs through next school year, during which time the School Board will be searching for a permanent superintendent.
