CLALLAM COUNTY – The Clallam County Sheriff’s office is investigating the discovery of a body lying in a heavily wooded area on Deer Park Road.

The body, which was in an advanced state of decomposition, was discovered by a neighbor on Monday at 11:30am in the driveway just outside the home at 8189 Deer Park Road.

“We treat these as a homicide till we know the circumstances surrounding the death. So due to that advanced state of decomposition, we are actively processing the crime scene still as we speak. It’s suspicious in the fact that it hasn’t been reported to us till now, but at the same time, because the body’s been there so long that we can’t even attribute cause of death at this point. We do know that there’s a history of, a medical history there that does weigh as a factor. I mean, we’re confident in who it is. We just haven’t been able to positively confirm the identity.”

That’s Clallam County sheriff chief criminal deputy Brian King. A neighbor told KONP the man who lived in the house was in his late 50’s, was in-between jobs, didn’t get many visitors and had once said he suffered from congestive heart failure.

Based on county records, the listed owner of the property does not appear to be the person who was living in the home where the body was found.
