PORT ANGELES – Unemployment ticked up last month in Clallam County.

According to state figures released this week, the area saw an unemployment rate of 6.4 percent in October. That’s up two tenths of a percent from September. It’s a full percent higher than a year ago.

But the change also comes as the labor force grew by about 440 people during the month. Additionally, the number of people employed went up about 300 people between September and October. The number of people filing for unemployment benefits grew by about 100 people.

Neighboring Jefferson County’s unemployment rate stayed flat at 5.6 percent. Statewide the unemployment rate is at 4.1 percent.
