CARLSBORG – Three people were hurt when two cars collided in Carlsborg.

It happened near Gilbert Road on Highway 101 about noon Tuesday.

State Patrol Troopers say a car driven by Justin Sande of Sequim was traveling westbound on the highway well over the speed limit. That car slammed into another car driven by Lillian Easton of Port Angeles. Easton was headed east and trying to make a left turn onto Gilbert Road.

Easton was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. Sande and a 17-year-old passenger in his car were also injured and transported to Olympic Medical Center.

Troopers cited Sande for speeding, negligent driving, driving with a suspended license and no insurance.

The accident shut down westbound Highway 101 in Carlsborg for more than an hour.
