SUNNYSIDE, Wash. – In Yakima County, a Sunnyside man and woman are behind bars after the woman stole nearly $750 worth of Starbucks mugs and then the man robbed someone to get the money to bail her out.

Police say the woman stole the Starbucks mugs on Tuesday, then fled on foot. When officers tracked her down, they say she was walking through a parking lot with a man.

After the woman’s arrest, the man tried to pay off her bail. But rather than using his own money, police say he robbed someone walking out of a bank.

Officers made their way to the scene in attempt to arrest the man, but he had already run away.

Just an hour later the man showed up at the police station attempting to pay for the woman’s bail using the stolen money.

The man was placed under arrest on the spot, and the stolen money was returned.
