PORT ANGELES – In Thursday morning’s COVID-19 briefing we learned that another positive test has been identified, bringing the total in our county to 11 out of 611 tests administered, with 52 pending.

The number of tests being administered to people showing symptoms is ramping up here, and that trend will continue over the next couple of weeks at least.

Over in King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties, the numbers are looking so positive that some experts think the worst has passed. But Clallam County Undersheriff Ron Cameron warns against getting complacent.

“Those positive things make it sound like we’re on the other side of this, but I do know that we gotta keep doing what we’re doing to make it last. We want to be careful. We’re going to see a rise in positives coming up here in our local area. You’re going to see it, and there’s several reasons for it. Number one, Doc has been warning us. Our curve is a little bit different than that over in the metro area. So it’s…we’re a little behind them. So that’s going to be a factor. The other factor is that the tests are becoming more and more available. You know, two or three weeks ago we were whining because we weren’t getting testing capability, but that’s changing and that’s becoming more and more available.”.
