LYNNWOOD, Wash. (KIRO-TV) — Washington state authorities have arrested an off-duty Lynnwood city employee accused of hitting a pedestrian with a city vehicle.

Lynnwood public affairs officer Julie Moore says the city was notified Thursday and confirmed the driver was a Public Works Department employee still in their probationary period and had joined the staff in December.

Snohomish County deputies say the driver left the scene and is believed to have been driving under the influence. The driver later called 911 to report they may have hit a pedestrian.   Authorities say the woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The employee was fired. An investigation is ongoing.
