SEQUIM – The Sequim City Council appointed two new council members Monday night and chose a new Deputy Mayor.
Sarah Kincaid was selected to fill the position left open when Jennifer States resigned, ironic in the sense that Kincaid challenged States in November’s general election as a write-in candidate. Kincaid is primarily known as an activist for the anti-MAT clinic group Save Our Sequim.
Newcomer Mike Pence was selected to fill the position left open when Councilman Ted Miller passed away on April 10. Pence has a BS in Political Science, was the Director of Public Works for cities in Missouri and Oklahoma, as well as the former City Administrator of Oak Grove, Missouri.
Councilman Tom Ferrell was chosen Deputy Mayor.
The council seats for both appointees, as well as those of councilmembers Dennis Smith and Brandon Janisse, will be up for re-election in the Fall of 2021.
