OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK – Olympic National Park Superintendent Sarah Creachbaum announced Tuesday her decision to scale back search operations for 60-year-old Port Angeles surgeon Margaret Baker.

Baker’s vehicle was found parked on East Beach Road along Lake Crescent on April 25, and later that day her red kayak was discovered floating upside down near the shore.

Since then, a search of the lake and shoreline has been ongoing, involving multiple agencies including dive teams and search dogs.

The park will now continue to search on a more limited basis. On Wednesday May 6, weather permitting, a drone will fly over the lake to look into the clear water from above.

The park may also partner with other another agency to bring in a remotely operated vehicle to conduct a scan of the deeper sections of the lake.

Park visitors who uncover relevant information are asked to contact the Investigative Tip Line (888) 653-0009.
