PORT ANGELES – Coronavirus has wiped out baseball for most youth in the Port Angeles area.

In a letter to parents and coaches this week, the North Olympic Baseball and Softball Association said the season is now off.

The board had hoped to salvage some play this year. But NOBAS president Adam Johnson wrote, there were too many roadblocks being put in front of the organization, especially since the it does not own the actual ball fields. Those are controlled by the city of Port Angeles.

Johnson wrote it is doubly disappointing since this year the organization was adding teams in both baseball and softball for the first time in many years.

Johnson is asking parents to consider donating their players’ fees this year to help the association pay costs. Otherwise, they will refund the fees already paid.

NOBAS provides league play for boys ages 4-12, and girls ages 4-16.
