PORT ANGELES – The two cases of Covid-19 found among the staff of Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, and which led to the testing of 389 people, did not result in any new infections, health officials announced Saturday.

In a briefing Monday morning, Clallam County Health Officer Dr. Allison Berry Unthank reported 3 new cases unrelated to either OMC or two cases that originated at the Serenity House homeless shelter, bringing the total number to 47. Testing will continue this week to monitor those two small outbreaks and to account for the virus’ incubation period, and test results are expected later this week.

Unthank says about 50 people are now staying at the Social Distancing Shelter near Fairchild airport, 10 of whom are in quarantine because of exposure to the Serenity House cases.

The Shelter was opened in April and designed to serve anyone who does not have a home to stay in or is showing symptoms of the virus and needs a place to stay while awaiting test results.
