JOYCE – The wildfire that erupted Wednesday afternoon in Olympic National Park off of East Beach Road had consumed an estimated 63 acres as of Thursday evening and was still ablaze. In an update issued around 5:00 pm Thursday, ONP officials said the fire is suspected of being “human ignited”, and the cause and origin are under investigation.

ONP, Clallam Fire District 2 and 4, DNR and Forest Service crews are fighting the blaze.

East Beach Road is closed to all traffic except residents.
