PORT ANGELES – Seventeen percent of Clallam County voters have already cast ballots for the November general election.

According to elections officials, about 9,700 of the 57,000 ballots sent out a week ago have been returned.

The totals were pushed by thousands of ballots that were brought to official drop boxes this past weekend, just a day or so after voters received them from the auditor’s office.

Voters have until November 3rd to get ballots in a box, or postmarked. Postage is pre-paid, so voters don’t have to buy a stamp. However, many voters are opting for the drop boxes to be sure the ballots get back on time.

If you’re using the mail, elections officials say you should put your ballot in the mail no later than next Tuesday to make sure it gets returned on time.
