PORT ANGELES – Port Angeles Schools will not rollback to distance-only learning, for now.

At a special Sunday night meeting, the school board agreed with a recommendation from superintendent Marty Brewer.

He says the district would revert back to all-remote learning if Clallam County’s COVID-19 rate gets above 200 per 100,000 population during a two-week period. The rate is currently at 149, but that number is expected to be updated upward today. Over the weekend, Clallam County saw another 17 positive cases reported and more than 60 cases since the middle of last week.

If a decision is made to roll back to remote learning, the schools would finish out the week.

Port Townsend, Chimacum, and Quilcene school districts have all returned to remote-only learning after spikes in cases in Jefferson County.
