SEQUIM – Sequim Schools will move to all-remote learning starting this Wednesday.

In an email to parents and staff sent out this morning, district officials say they are concerned with the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the community.

Acting Superintendent Jane Pryne says the decision is not because of positive cases with the school or an order from the local health department. She says it is an individual, district-based decision that she feels is best for students and staff.

Pryne says the district is also experiencing a shortage of substitutes for all positions, which was a factor in the decision.

There’s no word on when in-person learning would resume.
