PORT ANGELES – It was a busy holiday for local law enforcement, with Port Angeles police officers reporting that they were dispatched to 190 calls for service in just a 24-hour time period between Thanksgiving and Friday.

Notably, a woman was arrested Thursday night on suspicion of DUI after plowing her pickup into an apartment building on the 600 block of West 8th Street. PenCom advised responding units that the driver was reportedly arguing with people at scene.

Arriving officers found a full-size Dodge 4X4 heavily damaged and embedded into an also heavily damaged side of the building.

No injuries were reported, and officers contacted City Building Inspectors to make a determination as to the safety of the building.

Just before 11:00pm, while officers were still on that scene, another driver was seen running a red light, narrowly avoiding a collision with another car.

Police went after him, reporting that the vehicle was failing to yield and the driver appeared to be trying to elude them.

The chase took them onto I Street, then L Street and westbound on Edgewood Road. The driver lost control of the vehicle near Lower Elwha Road, crashed, was confronted by officers before fleeing into the woods.

The driver was eventually captured and arrested by Officer Fairbanks with the help of K-9 Copper and assisting officers.

The suspect, 29-year-old Jesse A. Eisenhower of Port Angeles, and was booked into the Clallam County Jail on felony and misdemeanor charges.
