SEATTLE (AP, KONP staff) — On the anniversary of the first confirmed COVID-19 case in the United States, Washington state health officials are plowing ahead with plans to open four mass vaccination sites next week in Eastern Washington, and Amazon, partnering with Virginia Mason, will open a pop-up clinic in Seattle on Sunday with the goal of vaccinating 2,000 people in one day.

That’s despite logistical concerns that include questions about vaccine supply. State Health Secretary Dr. Umair Shah said Thursday that officials are asking the new Biden administration for earlier and more reliable predictions on vaccine supply deliveries.

The mass vaccination sites expected to open Monday are at Spokane Arena, the Benton County Fairgrounds in Kennewick, the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee and the Clark County Fairgrounds in Ridgefield.
