PORT ANGELES — Gov. Inslee announced Tuesday night that the state is immediately expanding vaccine eligibility to include teachers and childcare workers. This comes after President Joe Biden issued a directive earlier in the day urging states to prioritize vaccinations for teachers, moving them to the 1B1 group.

Clallam County health officials began registering teachers this morning for this weekend’s vaccination events in Port Angeles, and Health Officer Dr. assures us there will be plenty of vaccine to go around.

“The good news here in Clallam County is, we have the infrastructure and the vaccine already to vaccinate teachers and child care workers and all school district staff. So we have enough vaccine for this weekend and next weekend’s events to vaccinate all of that population.”

Dr. Berry says the County website has been updated to register the estimated 1000-1200 teacher and school staff. The number of childcare workers is not known, but Dr. Berry is confident there will be enough for them as well.

Additionally, the Jamestown Tribe issued a news release Wednesday saying a new 1,000-slot First Dose vaccination day has been added to their drive-through at Carrie Blake Park in Sequim for Saturday March 13th.

Once your online registration is complete, a ticket with date and time should be printed and brought with you.

They add that due to limited vaccine supply, no spouses or partners will be allowed, and all school staff must bring employee identification with them.
