builders

PORT ANGELES – Volunteers are still needed for the Dream Playground community build project, which gets under way next Tuesday.

Hundreds have signed up for the 6-day event, but Parks Director Corey Delikat says they’re still short, especially for the 5pm-8pm slots.

“Correct. I know a lot of people are taking a lot of time off during the week, but it’s definitely that 5 to 8 shortage that we’re really kind of doing a major push to get those spots filled.”

Lunch and dinner will be served to volunteers each day through Sunday. People ages 14 and up of all skill levels are welcome.

Organizers are encouraging volunteers to bring along a variety of tools if you have them, especially needed will be cordless impact drivers or drills and cordless circular saws. Two batteries and your own charger would be helpful.

“Yeah, I can tell you that everyone I talked to that was part of the original build, still remembers it and how satisfying and rewarding it was. And so, I just encourage people to get involved because I know once you get there, you’ll come back because you’ll enjoy it. And it’s…this is going to be something that is going to be a fixture in our community for a long time.”
