Port Angeles – We reported Wednesday about Peninsula College’s announcement that even online students were going to be required to be vaccinated for the Fall quarter. We spoke at length with College President Luke Robins to give him the chance to explain what sounded to a lot people like an overstep.
On Thursday that policy was rescinded. A news release sent out Thursday afternoon reads”
“Following a meeting with state officials this morning, Peninsula College students who are enrolled in online or virtual classes with no on-campus requirements are automatically exempted from the governor’s vaccination mandate for fall quarter.
The college’s expectation is that students who are 100% online will not receive in-person services on PC campuses.
Current student guidelines for the vaccine mandate are as follows:
- Complete the attestation or file a medical or religious exemption.
- The deadline for the attestation for the exemption has been extended until Oct 18.
- Students who are enrolled in online or virtual classes with no on-campus requirements are exempt from the attestation process.”
