PORT ANGELES — A judge Friday ordered a company to continue offering recycling services in the city of Port Angeles.

The City of Port Angeles appeared in Clallam County Superior Court, asking the Judge to issue a court order compelling Waste Connections Inc. (WCI), the parent company of Olympic Disposal, to continue providing services. The City argued the company was still contractually obligated to continue the services while both sides worked out a termination agreement.

The move comes days after Olympic Disposal said it would begin collecting its bins as it unwound the services for city residents and businesses.

City officials said in a news release Friday night the recycling services would .continue to be provided by WCI until further notice.

Meantime, the City still plans to end its contract with the company and take recycling services under its own operations. They believe a consolidated operation will save ratepayers rather than using a third-party contractor.
