SEQUIM – The parent of a former student in the Sequim School District (SSD) has filed a lawsuit alleging she and her daughter have been the subjects of repeated harassment, intimidation and bullying by school officials over the past 3 years.

Shenna Younger’s lawsuit, filed on January 10 in Clallam County Superior Court, dates back to 2017 when she says she became aware of evidence suggesting that an SSD coach and more than one teacher were having sexual relationships with students. Younger says she spoke formally at a School Board meeting, urging the Board to investigate the allegations, but believes follow-up investigations have been biased in favor of school officials.

Younger says she later became the target of harassment, intimidation and bullying by district employees. She says she eventually pulled her daughter, listed in the complaint as K.S., out of school in January of 2021 because of unfair treatment she claims the girl was suffering from a math teacher in retaliation for Younger’s complaints.

Younger is seeking damages “as a result of the negligence, carelessness and unlawful conduct” of District officials, saying she and her daughter “have sustained emotional distress which has necessitated medical care and treatment, and will require future medical care.”

We reached out to the school district and Younger’s attorney for comment but had not heard back by airtime.
