PORT ANGELES – A couple of house fires kept Port Angeles fire crews busy Saturday, starting with a call that came in around 2:30.

Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the structure, performed a forced entry and extinguished the fire before it could spread to the rest of the house, which was unoccupied.

A news release says the fire was limited to about 20% of the contents of the home only, and did not extend into the structural components.

The occupants of the home were later provided lodging assistance by the Red Cross. The cause is still under investigation.

And then, just before midnight on Saturday, PA Fire was dispatched to a second residential fire and arrived to find smoke pouring from the kitchen of a mobile home.

Again, the home was unoccupied by the time they arrived and they got the blaze out before it could do any damage to the structure itself. Only contents were burned.

The occupant sustained a minor cut while attempting to extinguish the fire. The cause of that one is also under investigation.
