PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles girls fast pitch team lost a heartbreaker to 13th ranked North Kitsap 11-10. The loss snapped a 10-game winning streak and by a fraction of a point the Roughriders fell to #2 in the state behind Othello. The Roughriders (16-2) fell behind early 5-1. when in the bottom of the 4th inning Roughrider 2nd baseman Peyton Rudd belted a grand slam home run to tie the score 5-5. But in the top of the 6th inning, the Vikings hit a grand slam for a 10-5 lead. The Roughriders came back, and with the tying run at 3rd and the winning run at 2nd base, the Vikings got a ground out to the shortstop for the upset. Lily Halberg had a big night at the plate hitting 3 singles, a walk and scoring 3 runs. Taylor Worthington continued her hot hitting with 4 singles and a run scored. Peyton Rudd had the home run a double and a single.

The Roughriders host 17th ranked Sequim today at Dry Creek field and the Wolves have been playing very well. Sequim (11-5) beat Kingston Thursday 11-1 in 5 innings. Wolves catcher Christy Grubb is one of the best players in the league on offense and defense. If the Roughriders win, they are the Olympic League champions. Sequim will have one game remaining when they host 8th ranked Olympic at 10 am tomorrow morning.

The Sequim Wolves soccer team lost a heartbreaker to Clover Park last night 2-1. The Wolves have already qualified for the state tournament and will now play Fife, Saturday at 11 am at Franklin Pierce for 3rd and 4th place.

The Port Angeles Roughrider baseball team has a huge district game against Orting Saturday at Foss high school, first pitch at 12:30 pm. A Roughrider win and they will play in a winner-to-state-loser-out game early next week.
