SEQUIM — Edun Bailey and Phoenix Flores of Port Angeles both finished tied for first at the West Central District 3 Boys Golf Tournament. They both qualified for the state tournament. Bailey and Flores both shot a 77.

In Class 2A state tournament soccer action, the Sequim Wolves lost a heart breaker to Burlington-Edison 2-1. The Wolves end a fantastic season with an 11-6 record.

Sixteen class 2A fast pitch teams with over 200 student athletes will converge on the Recreational Athletic Center in Lacey tomorrow morning, trying to be one of the five teams to qualify for the state tournament in Selah. The first pitch is at noon, as the 6th seed Sequim Wolves (12-6) take on 3rd seed KingCo champions Sammamish who have a 14-4 record. The winner will qualify for the state tournament and will play in a semifinal game Saturday morning at 10 am.

#1-seed Port Angeles (17-2), will take on #8-seed White River who are 13-5. The winner will qualify for state and will play in a semifinal game Saturday at 10 am against the winner of #4 seed North Kitsap and #5 seed Olympic.

KONP will air both Sequim and Port Angeles games through the tournament. Airtime will start with the Steve Methner State Farm Insurance Wolves Clubhouse show at 11 am. The show will feature Sequim Skipper Mike McFarlen and pitcher catcher duo of Angel Wagner and Christy Grubb.

The Steve Methner State Farm Insurance Roughrider Clubhouse Show will start at 11:30 am Friday with Skipper Randy Steinman and pitcher catcher duo Teagen Clark and Zoe Smithson.

Oly Archibald, in his 40th year of sports play-by-play, will have the call. Former Peninsula College Fast pitch coach Jim Cheney will have the color commentary.
