SEQUIM – The Sequim School Board is looking for a new Board Director to take the place of Jim Stoffer, who submitted his intention to retire, effective October 1.

Stoffer, who first joined the Board in November of 2015, shared with us the letter he sent to the Board last week. It reads, in part; “Having recently crossed a retirement age threshold, and after consulting with my family and close friends, I have decided to retire from my position on the Sequim School Board…

Over the past two decades, as a parent, volunteer, and board member, I have been privileged to be a part of the Sequim schools community. I am grateful for the efforts of so many people, every single day, to provide for our children’s educational and personal growth.

Although differences remain among school advocates, and in our community, there is far more that unites us than divides us. Together, we all believe in the future of Sequim students and in enhancing that future in every way we can.”

The application, interview, and appointment process is now under way. The deadline for submitting applications is 4:30pm on Monday, October 10. On October 17, interviews will be conducted during the Board’s regular meeting, and they do plan to make their selection that same night.
